Surgery - Orthopedic

There are a wide range of orthopedic problems in small animals. These can very from emergency fractures to growth (developmental) malformations to other injuries that lead to chronic conditions such as arthritis. At SVC we are prepared to care for your pet in any of these situations.

Some of the Orthopedic procedures offered at SVC:

  • Emergency fracture stabilization and repair
  • Fracture repair using a wide variety of techniques including bone plating
  • Cruciate ligament repair (lateral stabilization). Anterior or Cranial Cruciate Ligament repair is one of the most common knee injuries in dogs. It is the partial or complete tear of a major ligament in the knee that gives the joint stability. We offer lateral stabilization techniques for smaller patients. Other surgical repair options including a TPLO , can be discussed once a diagnosis is reached.
  • Correction of developmental abnormalities associated with abnormal growth.
  • Femoral head and neck Osteotomy: which is excision as salvage procedure for severe hip dysplasia/dislocation or fracture complications.

We provide consultation on any orthopedic problem and evaluate the need for surgical intervention on a case by case basis.
